I’m Forbes, the founder of Oppy Marketplace.
I am actually an Ecologist… with a nagging internal voice that never lets me buy anything brand new (but I love the thrill of the find) and a passion for creating things.
I have always wanted a decent Australian marketplace for selling and chasing down second-hand goods, to make a bit of extra cash and keep the second-hand demons at bay. At the same time, I always wanted a better place to share art and handmade goods. Somewhere Aussie artists and makers could sell without handing over a commission, and where we could discover independent work that felt a little more personal.
So I built Oppy.

It’s a marketplace for artists, makers, resellers, and anyone who would rather find something with a bit of character. And for those of us who choose second-hand as our first choice.
Artists and makers deserve a fair home online. Pre-owned clothes and gear should be easy to discover, buy, and trust. Sellers should keep ALL of what they earn. Users should have someone to turn to if something goes wrong. Support should be easy to get a hold of, and human. That’s what Oppy is here to offer.
We have flexible and easy postage options so selling and buying all over Australia is a breeze. And when you’d rather exchange something in person, there’s Oppy Local.
Oppy Local brings buying and selling into the places you already go. Cafés, climbing gyms, local markets, and other everyday meeting points. Keep to your usual routine and pick up or drop off your latest artwork, handmade find, or second-hand treasure along the way. It’s a simple idea: make local exchange feel like a natural part of everyday life.
I’m not trying to build another fashion app with a green filter. I’m trying to make finding something different, easy. Something made here, remade here, or simply worth keeping in circulation.
